What is AdapSorties?
Any member can propose an outing. A walk, a drink, a visit, a lunch — the idea, the organisation, the atmosphere: it all comes from you.
Think of a potluck: everyone brings a little something, and nobody ends up handling everything alone. ADAP lends you the space to get together; the good mood is up to you.
Outings are open to everyone, whatever your language. The list first shows outings proposed in the language of the site you are browsing. A link at the top of the list shows those in other languages.
To register for an outing or organise one, you need to be a member. It’s free. Join us.
I’m taking part in an outing
- Find an outing. The “Outings” page lists them all. Filter by district or by activity type.
- Read the outing page. It gives the place, the date, the meeting time, the number of places, the minimum age and the cost. When logged in, you also see the exact address and the list of participants.
- Register. An email confirms your registration.
- Outing full? You go on the waiting list. If a place becomes available, it is offered to you by email.
- Something came up? Cancel your registration before the deadline shown on the outing page: your place will go to someone else.
- On the day, meet the group at the meeting address.

Do I need an account to register?
Yes. Every outing requires an ADAP account to register, even those open to everyone. Without an account, you can browse the list and read the pages of outings open to everyone. Membership is free.
Can I register for an outing proposed in another language?
Yes. Each outing is written in the organiser’s language, and anyone can register. On the list of outings, the “outings in other languages” link shows them all.
AdapSorties emails reach you in your own language. Messages written by the organiser, however, are not translated.
“Reserved for ADAP members”, “reserved for the group”: what’s the difference?
An outing open to everyone can be read without logging in.
An outing reserved for ADAP members only shows its type, district and date to visitors. Log in to see the rest.
An outing reserved for a group is only visible and open to members of that group.
Why isn’t the exact address shown?
The meeting address and the directions for finding each other are only shown to logged-in members. Without logging in, the outing page only shows the town.
How do I come with guests?
The organiser decides whether guests are allowed. If so, the registration form asks how many: enter 0 if you are coming alone. Only this number is asked for, never your guests’ names.
Your guests take up places, just like you. You can change their number on the outing page until the deadline. Adding guests requires free places; removing them frees places up.
Why a tick box about age?
Some outings set a minimum age. To register, tick the box confirming that every person in your registration, guests included, is at least that age. The box is asked for again if you add guests later. Without it, the registration is not recorded.
How do I know my registration has been recorded?
The outing page shows it straight away, and you receive a “Registration confirmed” email. It tells you until when you can cancel. If the outing is full, the “Waiting list” email gives you your position.
All your registrations are in “My outings”.
Until when can I cancel my registration?
Until the deadline shown on the outing page. If no specific date is set, it is the start time of the outing. Cancel from the outing page or from “My outings”: an email confirms it, the organiser is notified, and your place is offered to the waiting list.
The deadline works both ways: after it, nobody can register or cancel.
Something came up after the deadline
You can no longer cancel your registration yourself. Let the organiser know in the comments on the outing page, or write to us at geral@adap.pt.
The outing has changed date or place
If the organiser changes the date, time or place, you receive an email. Check the outing page before the day. You remain registered; if the new date doesn’t suit you, cancel before the deadline.
The outing has been cancelled
You receive an email, with the reason if one was given. The outing page stays online, with a red box saying “This outing has been cancelled”. Registrations and new comments are closed.
How much does it cost, and whom do I pay?
The outing page says: free, everyone pays their share on the spot, or a contribution towards costs, with an indicative amount. Any payment, share or deposit is made directly to the provider: restaurant, travel agency, hotel… Never to the organiser, nor to ADAP.
How do I ask the organiser a question?
Write in the comments at the bottom of the outing page. They are reserved for logged-in members. The organiser is notified by email. If you have already commented on the outing, an email lets you know when someone writes after you.
Your very first comment on the site is read by ADAP before it is published. Until then, only you can see it. The following ones appear straight away.
Who can see that I’m registered?
Logged-in members see the list of participants, under their usernames. Visitors only see the number of places taken.
I’ve been removed from an outing
The organiser can remove a participant up until the start of the outing. You are notified by email. If you think it is a mistake, write to us at geral@adap.pt: we will liaise.
Reporting an outing
Does an outing seem to you to break the law or go against the spirit of the network? On its page, “Report this outing” lets you write to ADAP. Only ADAP reads your message. The link is reserved for logged-in members; without an account, write to geral@adap.pt.
Where can I find my outings?
In “My outings”, in three groups: registration confirmed, waiting list, past outings. Each card leads to the outing page. As long as the deadline has not passed, you can cancel your registration or leave the waiting list from the card.
And after the outing?
The outing page shows the date and the number of people who took part. Comments stay open: a word, a thank-you, a memory.
Six months after the outing, the list of participants and the comments are deleted. The outing page stays online as an archive.
The waiting list
View the waiting list as a diagram
The outing is full: what happens?
The button changes to “Join the waiting list”. You take your place on the list in order of arrival, and an email gives you your position. The outing page and “My outings” show it too.
If you are coming with guests, your whole group goes on the waiting list: never you on one side and your guests on the other.
When will a place be offered to me?
When a place becomes available and you are at the top of the list. A place becomes available when a participant cancels or is removed, when the organiser adds places, or when the person before you declines or doesn’t reply.
The place must be enough for your whole group, guests included. If not, you keep your position, and the people behind you wait too.
At the registration deadline, no more places are offered. If you are still on the list, an email tells you that registrations are closed, and “My outings” shows “List closed”.
How long do I have to reply?
The “A place is being offered to you” email gives the deadline date and time. You have 48 hours at most. As the registration deadline approaches, the time allowed gets shorter: it gives the next person a chance. If very little time is left, you have until the registration deadline.
Accepting or declining the place
Reply from the email, the outing page or “My outings”. The button in the email opens the outing page, after logging in if needed: that is where you confirm your choice.
If you accept, you are registered, and you receive a “Registration confirmed” email. If you decline, you leave the waiting list, an email confirms it, and the place is offered to the next person.
And if I don’t reply?
Once the time is up, the place goes to the next person, and you leave the waiting list. An email tells you so. You can register again from the outing page as long as registrations are open, as for a new registration.
I’m organising an outing
- Create your outing. The form has seven sections: who, what, where, when, how, how much, why. You can save it as a draft and come back to it.
- Submit it for approval. An email confirms it.
- ADAP reviews it. It’s a quick look, to keep everything in the spirit of the network. Once approved, it is published and an email lets you know. You are registered automatically: you take up a place.
- Follow the registrations. An email lets you know of each registration and each cancellation. Everything is managed in “I’m organising”.
- Stay in touch with participants: group message, comments.
- After the outing, duplicate it to offer it again.

Who can organise an outing?
Any logged-in member. The “Start an outing” button is in “I’m organising”.
The target audience
Choose who sees all the details of the outing:
- open to everyone: anyone can read the outing page;
- reserved for ADAP members: visitors only see the type, district and date;
- one of your groups: only members of that group can see it and register.
In every case, registering requires an ADAP account.
This choice can no longer change once the outing is published: to change the audience, cancel the outing and create a new one.
Organising an outing among friends
Want an outing reserved for your friends, invisible to everyone else? Request a new group, using the form on the groups page or under “Target audience”. ADAP creates the group, hidden if you wish, and makes you its administrator; the reply reaches you by email. You then invite your friends. Choose that group under “Target audience”: only its members can see the outing and register. It goes through ADAP’s approval, like any other.
The address and directions for meeting up
The town is public. The meeting address and the directions for finding each other are only shown to logged-in members. Don’t put anything there you wouldn’t want to see passed around.
Minimum age
Choose “Open to all ages”, or a minimum age from 1 to 18. Enter 18 for an adults-only outing. Each participant will have to tick a box confirming that their whole group is the required age. A particular condition, such as coming with an adult, goes in the practical details.
Guests: yes or no?
If you answer “Yes”, each participant enters the number of people coming with them. They take up places. If you answer “No”, nobody can bring guests, you included.
As soon as a participant has declared guests, this setting can no longer be switched to “No”.
The registration deadline
By default, people can register and cancel until the start time of the outing. Choose an earlier date if you need to give numbers in advance, for example to a restaurant. After the deadline, nobody can register or cancel, and the waiting list stops.
The date of the outing and the deadline cannot be in the past.
How many places?
Enter the maximum number of people, yourself included. When the outing is full, further registrations go on the waiting list. A freed place is offered to the person at the top of the list, who has 48 hours at most to accept it. An email lets you know at each step: place offered, accepted, declined or left unanswered.
The cost
Three choices: free, everyone pays their share on the spot, or a contribution towards costs, with an indicative amount. Any payment, share or deposit is made directly to the provider: restaurant, travel agency, hotel… Never to you, nor to ADAP.
In “I’m organising”, you can tick off the people who have paid their share. Only you and ADAP can see this.
Approval by ADAP
While your outing is awaiting a decision, you can edit it: it stays pending. You can also withdraw your submission: it goes back to draft.
My outing was not approved
An email tells you why. The outing goes back to draft. Change what needs changing, then submit it again.
Editing a published outing
In “I’m organising”, open the outing with “Manage”, then “Edit / Duplicate”. Your changes are saved without a new approval; ADAP is informed. The target audience, however, can no longer change.
- If you change the date, time or place, registered participants and the waiting list receive an email.
- If you add places, they are offered to the waiting list.
- The number of places cannot go below the number of people already registered.
A published outing does not go back to draft. To withdraw it, cancel it.
Writing to all participants
In “I’m organising”, open the outing by its title or with “Manage”: the group message is emailed to registered participants and to the waiting list. It goes out exactly as you wrote it, without translation. It is still possible after the outing, for a thank-you or a forgotten item.
For participants’ questions, reply in the comments on the outing page.
Removing a participant
In “I’m organising”, open the outing, then “Remove” next to their username. This is possible until the start of the outing, even after the deadline. The person is notified by email. If registrations are still open, their place is offered to the waiting list.
Cancelling the outing
In “I’m organising”, open the outing, then “Cancel this outing”. You can give a reason. Cancellation is final. Registered participants and the waiting list are notified by email. The outing page stays online, with a red box.
An outing can no longer be cancelled once its start time has passed.
You cannot cancel your registration for your own outing: if you can no longer come, cancel the outing.
Deleting an outing
A draft or an outing awaiting approval can be deleted from “I’m organising”. An upcoming outing must first be cancelled, and a cancelled outing stays online. A past outing can only be deleted if nobody but you was registered.
A deleted outing goes to the bin. ADAP can recover it for 30 days.
Offering an outing again
“Duplicate” creates a draft with the same content. Choose the new date, the minimum age and the guests setting, then submit it for approval. The button is on past outings in “I’m organising” and in the form.
The emails you receive
- on submission, approval or rejection;
- for each registration, on the waiting list or confirmed;
- for each cancellation;
- when an offered place is accepted, declined or left unanswered;
- for each comment. A very first comment, still awaiting review, is flagged to you straight away; a second email follows when it is published.
And after the outing?
It moves to “Past”. No more cancelling or removing; the group message and comments remain possible. Six months later, the list of participants and the comments are deleted. The outing page stays online, with the number of people who took part.
